Can you tell us a bit about your business?

Calma Sleeps is a sleep care brand with a dedicated mission: to ensure a restful night’s sleep by offering a thoughtfully sourced and curated range of bedding, sleepwear, and sleep accessories.

Our products are meticulously crafted from 100% bamboo lyocell, a material that holds both organic certification and the esteemed OEKO-TEX Standard 100 designation. This ensures that our sheets and apparel are free from harmful chemicals commonly found in the textile industry. Not only are they visually appealing, but they also boast qualities equivalent to a 1000-thread-count cotton, making them inherently hypoallergenic and antibacterial. This makes our products suitable for those with sensitive skin and individuals dealing with dust-mite allergies. Additionally, their thermo-regulating and moisture-wicking properties make them ideal for year-round use.

Being eco-conscious is ingrained in our ethos, evident in our fabric sourcing and packaging practices. Our packaging is either fully compostable or recyclable, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. Moreover, the inks used on our cards and tissue are soy-based. Our focus is on delivering high-quality products that enhance the sleep experience, demonstrating kindness to both individuals and the planet alike.

What’s the backstory for your business idea?

Our journey into launching a sleep care brand was prompted by a personal mission – ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep for our child dealing with eczema and dust-mite allergies. The persistent scratching and discomfort posed a considerable challenge with sleep for both us adults and our child alike. During our exploration, we came across bamboo bedding, which proved to be a significant breakthrough for our daughter after three challenging years, allowing her finally to get a comfortable night’s sleep.

Witnessing the positive impact on her well-being, we felt compelled to share this knowledge with other parents. Surprisingly, we noticed a distinct lack of products addressing these specific sleep issues in the market. This realization motivated us to take the initiative and establish our own sleep care brand and share the many benefits bamboo fabric has to offer.
