Government & EDA’s
“You cannot create genius. All you can do is nurture it.” – Ninette de Valois
Fertile ground for a strong ecosystem
New Zealand is regularly ranked as one of the easiest places in the world to start a business, and least corrupt. Company registration is fast and inexpensive, and the New Zealand Government has several goals, programmes and funding in place to stimulate economic development through entrepreneurship.
Consequently many regions have bodies dedicated to economic development (Economic Development Agencies or EDA’s), which have strategies in place to nurture startup entrepreneurs. Being aware of the work being done “behind the scenes” to create an environment supportive of entrepreneurship in New Zealand, will enable you to appreciate the freedom and opportunities we have to explore, create and grow – and hopefully make the most of it!
