An independent Kiwi design and advertising agency is getting creative in its response to a challenging business environment, offering to build quality websites for businesses for a ‘pay what you want’ fee.

To promote the offer, RUN, an award-winning, Māori-owned, creative agency has launched paywhatyouwant.co.nz

With clients in the tourism sector, the agency has already lost business due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent business downturn, but say they see the difficult times as a creative challenge.

RUN Design Director, Laura Cibilich said, “We’re a small team and this is a tough time for everyone, so we wanted to come up with a creative solution to use this period to help people and support other Kiwi businesses.”

RUN Design Director Laura Cibilich says tough times are a time to get creative.

She adds that extra time afforded by the slow down is a great opportunity for business owners to take action on things they may have been meaning to, but never had the time.

“Having a professional online presence is vitally important, more so now than ever before. In this uncertain time it’s virtually the only way for people find or contact you or visit your business. So we want every business to be able to have that.”

RUN’s core strengths are advertising campaigns, brand strategy and identity design, but they also offer websites as an add-on service for clients.

To date the agency has worked with the likes of Auckland Council, Niue Tourism, 2degrees and the United Nations on large scale creative projects and has built websites generally costing tens of thousands of dollars, but see an opportunity to help smaller businesses that are hurting right now.

“One of our long-standing values at RUN is ‘family friendly and real’, so we’re used to working with kids and dogs around as well as remotely sometimes, which is a bonus given the current lockdown,” said Raymond McKay, RUN Creative Director.

“We work in partnership with all our clients, so we’re really feeling it with them right now and want to use our creative design and marketing skills and put them to good use – making it a win-win.”
