Can you tell us a bit about your business?

At Neurofanos, we are focused on transforming neurosurgery while delivering significant socio-economic impacts. Our vision is to illuminate the path of neurosurgery with cutting-edge technology, revolutionising the precision and safety of delicate brain operations.

By harnessing the power of pioneering computer vision and AI, we aim to deliver a highly-specialised technology for real-time intraoperative neuronavigation during tumor resection surgery. Our mission is to provide neurosurgeons with the visual cues and insights they need to confidently identify and remove even the most challenging brain tumors, while preserving healthy brain tissues. Our technology will empower surgeons to improve their understanding of the surgical-field and confidently make critical decisions, in real-time.

We aim to provide an accurate, robust, and cost-effective solution to a world-class challenge that will:

  • Lower neurosurgeons’ cognitive loads
  • Enhance intraoperative precision, safety, and efficiency
  • Reduce surgical time and shorter anaesthetised period
  • Lower surgical costs (e.g., faster discharge after surgery)
  • Reduce recovery time, and improve quality of post-surgery life

Releasing our technology can significantly contribute to improving surgical precision and patient outcomes while reducing surgical time and costs on a global scale.

What’s the backstory for your business idea?

We are at the ‘big-bang moment’ of AI in neurosurgery.

Our story began with a shared passion for advancing neurosurgery and contributing to patient care and surgical outcomes. Inspired by the importance of precision and safety in surgical procedures, we are focused on developing a ground-breaking solution for the challenges faced by neurosurgeons in navigating the intricate structures of the brain.

With collaboration from esteemed professionals, we merged expertise in bioengineering, neurosurgery, and medical imaging to make this happen.

The name “Neurofanos” reflects our technology’s core concept of illuminating the surgical zone and bringing the ‘unseen’ to light, empowering surgeons to confidently make critical decisions.

Neurofanos team is poised to make a global impact, illuminating the path for neurosurgeons worldwide and ushering in a brighter future in brain surgery.
