Tell us about your business.

Moberate provide a fully maintained, “done for you”, smartphone based, marketing and prospecting system via the SaaS model. Subscribers have immediate access to both online and offline technology, completely customised to them to help them promote their product or service. They can see results in their marketing efforts in real-time, all from their smartphone.

Who and where are your target customers?

Our primary market is international network marketing companies (sometimes known as multi level marketing companies, aka “MLM”), although we are finding alternate applications for the technology in more traditional markets that lack modern marketing technology.

How and when did you first come up with the idea for your business?

I have been running technology based marketing companies for over 20 years, and have been exposed to a range of technologies and changes in marketing tools and market needs.

The smartphone has had a profound impact on how people engage with each other and the internet. One of the key factors I have learnt is that whilst technology can be an enabler, in many cases, companies focus too much on capability, at the cost of usability. Typical marketing strategies revolve around a range of SaaS based offerings, all trying to piece them together to meet the unique marketing challenges of companies.

After being exposed to a couple of network marketing companies systems, it became apparent that there was a big gap in the way they were using technology to help promote their business offerings. Based on my background, both in marketing and technology, I saw an opportunity to develop a set of tools that were designed to run on any modern browser based device. These tools were designed for simplicity whilst not compromising capability.

The uniqueness of the technology revolves around unique tracking of contacts through the communication process whilst help them through the understanding of the product or service on offer.

What are your three biggest unique selling points?

  1. Fully “done for you” marketing service via a SaaS model.
  2. Designed from the ground up for mobile devices.
  3. Utilises a full range of personalised offline and online media using email, SMS, web meetings, social and presentation technology.

How do you market your business and what advice do you have for others around marketing?

In our primary market (MLM) 1200 companies exist globally. Gano for example are turning over US$800 Million PA, are debt free, operating in 60 countries and have over 6 million customers.

Our marketing strategy in this sector is target the top performers by company to explore the need prior to engaging with the parent companies globally.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in building your business so far?

Getting the technology developed and launched in market.

What is the biggest entrepreneur lesson you would like to share with other Kiwis thinking of starting their own business?

Keep focused on the end game and always focus on costs. Cashflow is king, always.
