Watch/listen to the Interview:

In the third of a four part series celebrating the inaugural Auckland Startup Week happening 20-24 October 2025, Richard Liew talks with health tech cofounder at RosterLab, Sunny Feng.

RosterLab is a New Zealand–based health‑tech startup that offers an AI‑powered rostering platform designed to simplify and optimise complex shift scheduling, especially in healthcare settings. Founded by Isaac Cleland (with co‑founders Sunny Feng and Daniel Ge), RosterLab emerged out of Cleland’s PhD research and was spun out of the University of Auckland via its Velocity $100K Challenge and the VentureLab incubator.

Its algorithms take into account staffing requirements like skill mix, legal/union constraints, staff preferences, and operational coverage to produce compliant, fair rosters efficiently — turning what might take days of manual work into just minutes.

The company has raised both pre‑seed and seed capital, including ~NZ$500K in early funding and a later seed round of NZ$1.75M led by venture capital firms, and is expanding its presence in NZ, Australia, and beyond.
