Can you tell us a bit about your business?

Daisy is a pioneer in women’s health, focusing on innovative over-the-counter antenatal products to improve maternal health outcomes. We specialise in creating science-backed supplements designed to support women through the challenges of pregnancy.

Our flagship product, Morning Relief, is a water-soluble supplement formulated to alleviate symptoms associated with morning sickness and Hyperemesis Gravidarum (severe morning sickness). Developed in collaboration with leading PhD nutritionists at Massey University, our products are crafted in New Zealand, ensuring high quality and efficacy.

At Daisy, we’re dedicated to empowering pregnant women with solutions that enhance their health and well-being during this crucial life stage.

What’s the backstory for your business idea?

Daisy was founded after my own personal battles with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (severe morning sickness) during two pregnancies led to numerous hospital visits. Recognizing a gap in effective treatments, I embarked on two years of rigorous research and development alongside female health specialists at Massey University. This journey culminated in the creation of Morning Relief, a supplement crafted with clinically proven ingredients and essential electrolytes designed to combat maternal depletion and provide much-needed relief to pregnant women experiencing severe morning sickness.

What programmes, learning or mentoring, or resources have been of assistance so far?

  • Throughout my journey with Daisy, I’ve received invaluable assistance and mentoring from Nicola O’Rourke at Joy Consulting, whose wisdom has been instrumental in navigating the complexities of launching and growing a business.
  • Additionally, I highly recommend the book “Lean Startup” by Eric Ries for its practical advice on building a customer-focused and flexible business strategy.
