With over two decades of marketing experience and a proven track record, Emma faced significant changes in her corporate marketing job. We asked Emma what inspired you to transition from a traditional marketing role to becoming your own boss? She explained…
‘Owning our own business was something my husband and I had often discussed, but it wasn’t until I lost my job in December 2023 that we finally decided to take the plunge. After dedicating 17 years to the same company, transitioning to the unknown world of business ownership was both exciting and daunting. The timing was perfect, as I found myself uninspired by the roles I was applying for, merely going through the motions in a brutal job market.
The prospect of being my own boss and shaping my own future was appealing, and taking on a new challenge ignited a spark within me. The flexibility to balance work around my family’s schedule was another significant draw. Shifting away from the traditional 9 to 5 routine has been a refreshing change, and I absolutely love it! Though there are early mornings and occasional late nights, the sense of fulfilment and control make it all worthwhile. Additionally, working with a variety of different businesses and people across a range of industries has already expanded my marketing skillset. Immersing myself in these businesses and working with people who have a genuine enthusiasm for what they do has been incredibly inspiring and rewarding.’
