Who: James Sampson, CEO at FileInvite
What: Document collection SaaS for lenders
NZ HQ: Auckland
Who do you work with and what key challenges do you help them solve?
FileInvite works with financial services institutions globally — primarily commercial lenders, mortgage brokers, and banks & credit unions — who need to collect large volumes of documents from borrowers and clients.
Key challenges solved:
- Chasing documents manually via email, which is slow and error-prone
- Disorganised intake leading to incomplete or mismatched files
- Poor borrower experience causing friction and drop-off
- Compliance risk from untracked document handling
- Operational inefficiency as loan officers spend time on admin instead of lending
FileInvite replaces the back-and-forth with a structured, automated request and collection workflow — speeding up deal cycles and reducing admin overhead.

What excites you about the work you do?
FileInvite sits at the intersection of financial services and everyday human experience — helping people get homes, grow businesses, and access capital faster. That means improving real human lives at the moments that matter most. And doing it by building a world-class software business that exports NZ innovation to global markets — contributing to the kind of technology-led future that NZ needs.
What recent news and highlights can you share about your work and impact?
- FileInvite recently completed a Series A bridge round ahead of our Series B — fuelling our US expansion into complex commercial lending, deepening platform automation and integrations, and accelerating delivery. The raise closed on the back of our strongest ARR growth quarter in three years. We’re calling 2026 the Year of the Surge.
- We’ve also been named an HRD 5-Star Employer of Choice 2026 — one of the best places to work across Australia and New Zealand in the 10–100 employee category. The recognition is based entirely on anonymous employee feedback, which makes it the accolade we’re most proud of.
- To support growth, we’ve expanded our leadership team with dedicated US sales and marketing hires, and our platform continues to earn strong reviews from banks, credit unions, and mortgage brokers across the United States and Australia — crediting FileInvite with faster loan cycles and significant admin savings week over week.
What message or offer would you like to share with the NZ Entrepreneur community?
New Zealand is one of the best places in the world to live, work and build a technology business. We have everything we need — except the confidence that we can change the world with big ideas. Think bigger and be global from day one.
If you have an idea, start. Don’t wait for perfect. The privilege of building something that improves lives and NZ as a country is worth every hard day.
You don’t have to figure it out alone. Most founders have tapped the shoulders of others a few steps ahead along the journey, and many are happy to pay it forward. Look me up.
